Rahul Gandhi celebrated his 55th birthday on 19 June 2025.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said that English empowers. It is not shameful and should be taught to every child. Rahul alleged that BJP-RSS does not want poor children to learn this language, because they do not want them to ask questions and achieve equality.
This post of Rahul came after Amit Shah’s comment, in which Shah said that those who speak English in this country will soon be ashamed.
Rahul Gandhi wrote on X-

English is not a bridge, a bridge. English is not shame, power. Not English chained, is a tool to break the chains. BJP-Rss does not want India’s poor child to learn English, because they do not want you to ask questions, go ahead, equalize. In today’s world, English is as important as your mother tongue, because this will provide employment, increase confidence. Every language of India has soul, culture, knowledge. We have to cherish them, and also teach English to every child. This is the way of an India that will compete with the world, which gives every child a chance to equal.
Shah had said- we are not Indians without the languages of our country

Shah said on the ‘future of Indian languages’ including Hindi,’ No foreign language can be sufficient to understand our country, your culture, its history and your religion. The whole of India cannot be imagined through incomplete foreign languages.
I know well, how difficult this fight is, but I am confident that Indian society will win it. Once again, with self -respect, we will run our country in our languages and lead the world.
TMC leaders also jumped into language dispute
Amidst the debate over the language, Trinamool Congress leader Derek O Bryan said on Friday that India has 22 constitutionally recognized languages and 19,500 languages and dialects and this is unity in the diversity of our country. 97% of people use any of the recognized languages as their mother tongue. Amit Shah, PM Narendra Modi and his gang will never understand this.
Rajya Sabha member of TMC MC Sagarika Ghosh also wrote on X- Indians should not be ashamed of any language.
