Dr. Tushar Grover, I Specialist of Sir Gangaram Hospital in New Delhi, told News18 That due to more temperature and sweat in the summer, bacteria and viruses grow quickly in the eyes. Many times, infection spreads by repeatedly touching the eyes with dirty hands. Apart from this, chlorine -rich water or dusty air of swimming pool can also damage the eyes. Those who wear contact lenses should be most careful in this season. In summer, people’s eyes often turn red, water starts coming out of the eyes and burning. If these symptoms are ignored, then this infection may increase. In some cases this infection can also spread from one eye to another.
According to Dr. Grover, some important precautions should be adopted to keep the eyes safe in summer. Use sunglasses while exiting so that the eyes are safe with sunlight, dust and pollution. Avoid touching the eyes again and again and wash your hands thoroughly with soap. Sweat also is at risk of getting infected to the eyes, so wipe sweat with a clean handkerchief or tissue. If you use contact lenses, clean them correctly and do not wear it for long. Wearing waterproof glasses while swimming in a swimming pool is also a good solution. Apart from this, do not add any medicine by yourself if itching or burning sensation in the eyes, but contact the doctor of the eye.
The doctor said that in summer, the risk of eye infection is more to those who live in sunlight and dusty environment for a long time. Traffic police, construction workers, people playing outdoor sports, contact lenses, weak immunity and diabetes patients are more at risk of common infection.
