New Delhi. On the basis of Yuzvendra Chahal’s brilliant bowling, Punjab Kings created history in the match against Kolkata Knight Riders. Chahal took 4 wickets for 28 runs and snatched the victory from KKR’s jaw. Taking two wickets off two consecutive balls, Chahal turned the hopes of KKR’s victory. Punjab Kings along with this recorded the record of pre -defending the success of the smallest score in the IPL. Earlier, the lowest score was defended by Chennai Super Kings by scoring 116 runs against Kings XI Punjab in 2009. Marco Yansen also took three wickets for Punjab while Arshdeep, Xavier Bartlet and Glenn Maxwell got one success each. For KKR, Angkrish Raghuvanshi played 37 runs off 28 balls and laid the foundation for the victory with captain Ajinkya Rahane (17) for the third wicket, but after the breakdown of this partnership, the team lost the last seven wickets within 23 runs.
Earlier, Punjab Kings were all out for 111 runs in 15.3 overs from 39 runs without any loss in which Harshit took three wickets for 25 runs while Varun Chakraborty and Sunil Narayan took two wickets each. Punjab captain Shreyas Iyer won the toss on his home ground and vomited the strategy to bat first as all his batsmen were seen struggling on their home grounds except openers Priyansh Arya (22) and Prabhasimran Singh (30). Apart from these two, only Nehal Vadhera (10), Shashank Singh (18) and Xavier Bartlet (11) can score runs in double digits.
