In Bengaluru, action has been taken on cricketer Virat Kohli’s One 8 Commune Pub and Restaurant. The police on Tuesday registered an FIR against the manager and staff due to lack of smoking zone in the pub. Virat’s One 8 Commune is located on Pub MG Road.
Police said that the rules of COTPA Act (Cigarette and Other Tobacco Products Act) were being violated in the pub. FIR has been registered under sections 4 and 21 of the Act. Under the COTPA Act, it is necessary to create separate smoking zones in public places like hotels, restaurants, airports.
Virat Kohli’s One8 Commune also has branches in Delhi, Mumbai, Pune and Kolkata. The branch of Bengaluru was opened in December 2023, on the sixth floor of the Ratnam complex. Virat had said in an interview that Bengaluru is his favorite city, so he opened the branch here.
Last year, FIR was done on the pub opening till late night In July 2024, an FIR was lodged in One 8 Commune Pub for playing music in loud voice till late night.
DGP Central had told that on the night of July 6, the team of Kabban Park Police Station had gone out on patrolling. The forest was then found open till 8 pm. The manager of the pub was opened in the wrong way. There is permission to open the pub till 1 pm in Bengaluru. Therefore action was taken against the pub.
