Uzches Cup 2025: Pragyananda won the tournament, the highest rank of career

The 19 -year -old player defeated world champions D Gukesh (2776.6) and Arjun Erigaisi (2775.7), who were India’s top ranked players till Thursday but now slipped to number six in the world. Magnus Carlson (2839.2) tops the top. On the last day, Pragyanananda started one point behind the local contender Nodirbek Abdotsattorov and half a digit from Javokhir Sindarov.

An important victory over Abdoustorov in the final round helped him equal to the two players with 5.5 points at the end of the round-robin phase. Arigasi drove with Arvind Chitambaram and missed the opportunity to make it a tie of four players.

This is the third title of this year of Pragyananda. Earlier, he won the Tata Steel Chess tournament and the Grand Chess Tour Superbat Classic in Romania.
