Son and daughter-in-law missing on 30 May Mahamrityunjaya is being chanting in the temple of Rahatikar village in Pratapgarh district from June 11. Kaushalendra Singh, son of Sher Bahadur Singh, was married to Ankita Singh on 5 May. On 25 May, both went to Sikkim on honeymoon. He went missing from 8 pm on 29 May. 6 more people sitting in the car in which they were sitting were not known. Some of his goods have been found in the ditch 1 thousand feet below. Nothing related to Kaushalendra and Ankita has been found.

Ankita Singh called her mother at 8.5 pm on the night of 29 May. A normal conversation of 30 seconds. Ankita and Kaushalendra’s phone stopped together at 8.7 am. Family members felt that the battery may have gone down. The next day, the travelers called the vehicle called and told that the car had crashed. Hearing this, the ground slipped from under the feet of Kaushalendra and Ankita’s family. At 4 pm on 30 May, 6 people left the car for Sikkim. It included Kaushalendra’s father, uncle and Ankita’s brother and uncle.
NDRF reached 72 hours later In Pratapgarh, we met Kaushalendra’s uncle Dinesh Singh. He also went to Sikkim in search of the nephew. Dinesh says- After leaving on May 30 at 4 pm, we reached Jalpaiguri in Sikkim at 10 am on 31 May. It was here that he parked his car at the railway station and then reached Gangtok in the evening through a traveler.
That day we went to the hospital and know the condition of the two injured boys. One was on a ventilator and the other in the ICU. We showed the picture of nephew and daughter -in -law to the ICU boy, he nodded yes. We felt that the mind may not be stable right now, so we left.

Dinesh says- We left Gangtok to go to the spot on 1 June. The scene was in Chungthang area of Mangan district, about 98 km, about 98 km. When he went ahead, it was found that the bridge of Teesta river has to be broken. Our car left for the spot from another route, there was landslide on that path, so we had to come back. We spoke to SP Sonam Deachu Bhutia of Mangan district. He said that the weather is bad, relief and rescue work is going on.
At the time when this accident happened, this part of Sikkim was raining heavily. There was so much rain for 2 days that the Teesta river came in spate. All the routes to reach here were closed. The rescue campaign also had to be discontinued.
NDRF landed for the first time on 2 June Dinesh Singh says- 8 people were missing, but despite this, the Sikkim administration did not appear to be very serious about the rescue. We met DGP Akshay Sachdeva on the morning of 2 June. After that met SP. Then the administration took us to the spot. NDRF started a search operation. Whatever they got, he would show it to us via video calls and ask if it is your belongings?
Kaushalendra’s second uncle Pramod Singh also went to Sikkim. He says- Half an hour after the incident took place, information reached every person of the administration. However, despite this, there was no speed for rescue. SO of Chungathana came. ITBP personnel were engaged with them due to humanity. These people rescued and took out two boys trapped 150 feet at around 4 am, who were sitting behind the car and somehow fell out.
Bad challenge in bad weather rescue In Sikkim, in terms of tourism, October to March is considered to be the most appropriate. Sikkim’s economy is dependent on tourism. This is the reason that tourists continued to be sent even beyond the appointed month. On 25 May, the Meteorological Department of Sikkim issued a high alert. He had feared heavy rains. Despite this, the tourism department was letting people go to zero points and Kanchan Jangha.

Pramod Singh says- The local administration started the rescue soon after the accident on 29 May. Could not go below 150 feet. Because, the flow of water in the Teesta River was extremely sharp. There was heavy rain for the next 2 days. On May 29, the car that was seen below was swept away in the fast edge in the next two days. On June 2, for the first time, NDRF came down and started a search operation. Initially marked an area of 1 km from the site of the incident.
Family members started getting into the ditch themselves Pramod Singh says- Ankita and Kaushalendra could not find anything even after the rescue campaign for about 3 days. Kaushalendra’s father got upset. He started asking the rescue team to send himself down. Ankita’s uncle was also ready with him, but the SDM stopped.
The NDRF team found ear phones, slippers, shoes and some bags after 3 days. It was sent to us, but we said that all this is not mine. 6 phones were also found within two days, but there was nothing of Kaushalendra and Ankita in it. The team extended the scope of its investigation. Now he was searching in an area of 5 km. High and big stones were becoming the biggest challenge inside the river. It was such that if something is buried under them, it would be difficult to see.

Keep searching for loved ones in villages We asked Ankita’s brother Saurabh if you used to go to the scene every day? Saurabh says- We did not go to the spot. It was also difficult to go there. The administration also said that there is no use of coming here, we will keep sending you photo-videos of search. If something is found, we will send it to identify by sending it. We all stayed in the hotel most of the time or met the concerned authorities.
Saurabh says- We went there to find Kaushalendra and Ankita, so all the focus lived on us. Where the flow of Teesta river is, we went to the village there. There are 8 to 10 villages on both sides of the river, we went to every village, went to every house. Show them photos to those people, asked if these people came towards you?
Father appealed to CM Yogi with folded hands Even after 8 days have passed, when nothing was found by Kaushalendra and Ankita, Kaushalendra’s father Sher Bahadur Singh made a video. In it, he appealed to the CM of UP with folded hands that Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh should talk to Tamang and ask to speed up relief and rescue work. So far, the clothes, shoes, clock, glasses and bags that have been found, there is no belongings of my son and daughter-in-law. We will not go from Sikkim until my son-daughter-in-law is found. I appeal to all the countrymen to pray for my son and daughter-in-law.
After reaching Sikkim, Sher Bahadur Singh appealed to the people for help.
We asked Ankita’s brother whether you did not get any help from the UP government? He says- We had high hope from the UP government, but no one kept our point. CM Yogi did not appeal. If someone kept our point, then action would have been taken. The incident took place with the family of Odisha, where CM Mohan Manjhi spoke to the CM of Sikkim on a video call. Talked about accelerating people’s all possible help and search operations. But, we did not talk to the leader-MLA, the minister here.
Saurabh says- At this time, going to Sikkim is like going to the well of death. The path is not good there. When the water starts raining, when it becomes landslide, nothing is known? I appeal to the people with folded hands that do not go to Sikkim, go somewhere else. Similar comments about Sikkim tourism also made similar people who went.
NDRF personnel are running a search operation by getting down at different places.
Umaid Singh, the elder Tau of Kaushalendra, says- Sikkim’s economy is dependent on tourism. For this, those people take risk. The right time to roam there is from October to March. But, even after this, people are called. The tourist is taken to the places where there is a terrible risk. This incident was opened, but he does not let many incidents come in public. Now since their economy is associated with this, the CM does not impose too much restrictions. He himself is appealing to people to come to Sikkim by making videos.
Family returned after 13 days All 6 people from Pratapgarh returned on May 10. Kaushalendra’s father did not want to come back, but the family members explained to him. The local administration also said that you should go back. Whatever is happening here, videos and photos of it will continue to be sent to you. The search process will also be shown on video calls.
