New Delhi/Anjali Singh Rajput : Cervical cancer is considered very common in women after breast cancer, due to which every year a large number of women are going to life throughout the country due to this cancer. For the prevention of this deadly cancer, the doctor of the Delhi All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) has done such a big research, through which both cancer tests and treatment will be very easy in the coming time.

We had a special conversation with Dr. BRA Institute Rotary Cancer Hospital Additional Professor Medical Ockology DR Mayank Singh of Delhi AIIMS. He said that cervical cancer occurs due to Human Papiloma Virus (HPV). Whatever cancer patients come to Delhi AIIMS are of advanced stage. That is, stage is 3 or stage 4, which contains high risk. He told that screening is done for cervical cancer now, but the research we have done is that the day the patient is admitted here, since then he is given therapy. How much of that therapy is affecting his body, how to find out? We did research on this, which we call liquid biopsy. This research is a liquid biopsy -based approach for non -invasive detection and pregnancy of cancer. This study has also been published in the Scientific Research of International Medical Journal Nature.

Check with blood sample

Dr. Mayank Singh said that during this entire research, 35 women who were admitted in the hospital here have been followed. We took his blood sample on the day the patient was admitted. So that it can be found out what was his condition on the day he was admitted. After that, as long as the patient was admitted here, after 4 months we again examined his blood and when the therapy of the patient was completely over, then we once again examined his blood. Through which tumor cells are analyzed. This is a process that is helpful in detecting at the beginning of this disease. The study showed that after three months of treatment, the intensity level of viral DNA in cancer patients had come down to almost that level. Which belonged to healthy women.

Death can be stopped in future

Dr. Mayank Singh said that there is no such special antigen marker in cervical cancer, which can tell whether the treatment is working or not. Whether the tumor is improving or not. In such a situation, every time the patient has to go through a traditional biopsy. For this, the patient has to be hospitalized. The doctors take a sample of the tumor and examine it. It takes time and it is expensive. This also hurts the patient a lot of pain. He said that the new method has been named ‘Liquid Biopsy’ and its cost will be around 2500 rupees. It will have to bear less pain than traditional biopsy. Because in this, the patient is examined by taking only 5 mL of blood.
