Paris: Neeraj Chopra, who has won the title of India’s star javelin throw player and Paris Diamond League here, said that he would have to work hard on his major muscles and strengthen the body to throw a spear for more than 90 meters in international competitions.
Chopra said, ‘I need to make more control while throwing. We are working on this in practice, but now many things have to be changed. I think I need strong muscles and strong bodies to perform consistently well.
Chopra said, ‘It is just a matter of time and rhythm. I want to win more and more competitions.
Chopra said, ‘I feel very good in the run up, but when I throw a spear, the timing is not so good. I go fast to the left and it is not good. I have to throw a spear on the front side of the chest and throw the spear upwards. We are working on it.’
Chopra is also the first Neeraj Chopra Classic to be held in Bengaluru on July 5, which he himself is the host. World Athletics has given it the status of A category competition.
He said, ‘I am expecting to throw up to 90 meters, because I had crossed that obstacle in Doha. So now I am confident that I can do this even further, but it also depends on the weather and circumstances. Maybe I will be successful in crossing this distance again in this session.
