India’s junior archers perform well in Asian Cup

India’s junior compound archer performed brilliantly in the Asian Cup. Kushal Dalal and Shanmukhi Naga Sai Budde made it to the finals. Indian archers also set two world records.

New Delhi: India’s junior compound archers entered the finals of both men and women here on Tuesday, keeping their dominance in the Asian Cup Phase two.

Top seeded Kushal Dalal won the semi-final over Bangladesh’s Himu Bachar by winning 147–143 and secured a place in the men’s individual compound finals, which made their at least the silver medal. The broker topped the qualification round with 714 points.

India’s 10th seed Sachin Chechi lost to Australia’s Joshua Machon in the semi -finals and will face Bachar for a bronze medal.

In the women’s individual compound category, gold and silver medal for India is confirmed as top seeded Shanmukhi Naga Sai Budde and other seed Tejal Salve will clash in the final between Indian players.

Shanmukhi scored 706 marks in qualification. He defeated Indonesia’s Yurike Neena Bonita Perera 145–139 in the semi-finals.

Tejal, who scored 700 points in the qualification, defeated Malaysia’s Fatin Noorfateh Mat Saleh 147-142 to advance to the title match. Earlier in the tournament, Indian archers made two world records and made headlines.

The women’s compound team of Shanmukhi, Tejal and Tanishka Thokal scored 2101 points and set a new team qualification world record. The mixed team of Kushal Dalal and Shanmukhi set another world record with a joint score of 1420 points.
