New Delhi: Top Indian player HS Prannoy suffered a defeat against China’s Zhu Guang Luy in the first round of the men’s singles of the Badminton Asia Championship here on Wednesday. Prannoy, who was struggling to achieve the rhythm after suffering from Chikungunya, suffered a defeat from his opponent for an hour and eight minutes against his opponent 16-21 21-12 11-21.

Kiran George, however, defeated Kazakhstan’s Damitri Panarin 21-16 21-8 in 35 minutes to advance to the pre-quarterfinals. In the women’s singles, attracted Kashyap and Anupama Upadhyay also lost the tournament after losing their matches.

Attacharya suffered a loss against the world number three Hen Yui in 31 minutes in 31 minutes, while Anupama suffered a 13th number of world number 13 and Ratchanok Intanon of eighth seed Thailand against 13-21 14-21 in 36 minutes.

In the women’s doubles, Priya Konzengbam and Shruti Mishra lost 1111-21 13-21 in 35 minutes in straight games against Chinese Taipei’s Shuo Yun Sung and Chion Hua. In the men’s doubles, Hariharan Amasakarunan and Ruban Kumar Rethinasabhapati defeated the Sri Lanka pair of Madhuka Dulajana and Lahiru Veerasinghu 21-3 21-12 in just 19 minutes.

The Indian pair of Prithvi Krishnamurthy Rai and Sai Prateek, however, lost 19-21 12-21 against the pair of Chiu Siang Chih and Veng China Lynn.
