Why is this update important?
Google says that this change is coming after the feedback of those users who like to watch mixed content – articles, videos, social posts – all in one place. This step will make it easier for people to find trending content and they will not have to switch between different apps.
To make feeds more useful for users, Google has introduced a new ‘follow’ button on the top-right corner of Discover posts. By tapping it, users can follow their favorite publishers or creators directly. Once followed, their content will appear in a dedicated space in Discover, which will reach the updates quickly.
You can also see their recent posts by clicking on the name of the publisher or creator, before you decide to follow them. However, to use this feature, you will have to sign in in your Google account.
Google is constantly improving discover experience. Last month (August 2025), he introduced an option to set the preferred source for search results, so that users can avoid clickbets and stay on reliable websites. The addition of Instagram and YouTube shorts further strengthens the discover as a one-stop hub for personalized news and entertainment.
With these new changes, Google Discover is no longer just about news and articles, it is gradually turning into a personalized space where you can track your favorite creators, publishers and even social media updates in a single feed. For Indian users, this means less app-switching and more relevant, time-saving content on your fingertips.
