The body of a 20 -year -old student was found hanging in the Goa campus of Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani. There is a third suicide case on the campus in the last 5 months. Earlier, similar cases were reported on 10 December 2024 and March 4.
Police said on Friday that the incident took place at 10.15 am on Thursday. The name of the deceased is Krishna Kasera, he was a student of dual degree program. He lived in the hostel on the campus, he was a resident of Lucknow, UP. Exams are also going on in college. The case looks like suicide. We are investigating.
Police said that there is no statement of BITS Pilani’s management on this incident at present. At the same time, Goa’s AAP MLA Cruise Silva demanded an inquiry into the case.
He said- In two months, another student committed suicide in Bits Pilani’s Goa Campus. This causes an atmosphere of anxiety between students, parents and academic community.
He said that it is the responsibility of the institute to take care of the safety of all the students on the campus. He also needs to focus on the mental health support and counseling service of the students.

Nepali student committed suicide in KIIT Bhubaneswar On Thursday, a Nepali student was found hanging in his room at Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) in Bhubaneswar, the capital of Odisha. The student has been identified as Prasa Saha (18 years). She was of B.Tech Science. Kiit did not comment on the death of the student.
Police Commissioner S Dev Dutta Singh said that the Nepali Embassy in Delhi has been informed about the death of the student. Prasad parents have also been informed about this. Postmortem of the administration will be done after his arrival. Initial investigation seems to be a suicide of the case.
Nepal’s Foreign Minister Arjuna Rana Deuba wrote on X that talks with the Government of India and Odisha are going on to know the truth of Press’s death. Earlier in February too, another Nepali student Prakriti Lamsal also committed suicide in KIIT.

On the complaint of the student’s cousin, the police arrested the accused Indian student. A case of abetment to suicide was registered against him. Apart from this, about 10 others were also arrested. These included three directors of the university.
To investigate the matter, the Government of Odisha constituted the High Level Fact Finding Committee with Additional Chief Secretary of the Home Department, Principal Secretary of Women and Child Development Department and Commissioner-Society of Higher Education Department.
