In the third Test, the return of fast bowler Jofra Archer in England’s playing XI is almost certain, while Gas Atkinson has also returned to the team. England wants him to get a helpful pitch for fast bowlers.

Shubman Gill will have to prepare a plan.
Archer is ready to return to the test after recovering from elbow and back injuries for a long time. He played his last Test in February 2021. Atkinson missed the second test due to the problem of hamstring (muscle stretch). With his return, the team is expected to strengthen the fast bowling attack. England coach Brandon McCullum said that he wants a ‘slightly higher speed, bounce and swing’ pitch from MCC’s main groundsman Carl McDermot.
England had earlier preferred flat pitches suited to their aggressive sports style. The team won by five wickets in the first Test played on a high bouncing pitch in Leeds, while Edgbaston’s ‘subcontinent conditions’ faced a crushing defeat. Archer practiced with England before the second Test. McCullum said, “He will definitely be available for selection.” He said, “Our fast bowlers have done well in two Tests. We need to keep an eye on Etkinson’s recovery from injury. “
