He said, ‘I remember when I was listening to the story from Ravi Chopra, my mother was sitting. After he left, I told my mother, ‘Four are asking to play the mother of such big boys… How can I do all this?’ Then my mother said, ‘No, no you should do this film.’ And I asked him why. He said, ‘The story is very good, you should do this.’ And she followed me. So I thought, okay, I will do it.

Hema further said, ‘Because at first I felt that before that, I was not doing much films, so after such a long interval I was working. So I thought, why should I do it? But he said, ‘You should do this, this role will be very good.’
Apart from Amitabh and Hema Malini, big stars like Salman Khan were also seen in the 2003 Baghban, but everyone was seen filling water in this film ahead of Amitabh and Hema’s pair.
Tabu was offered the film before Hema
