India defeated England in women’s hockey.
New Delhi. The confident Indian women’s hockey team started their campaign in the FIH Pro League with a win against England with high ranked England. Host India defeated England 3–2 in the match played on Saturday at Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar. On two goal penalty corners of India, Vaishnavi Phalke scored the sixth and Deepika in the 25th minute while Navneet Kaur scored a winning goal with the last whistle.
For England, Darcy Burne scored an equal goal in the 12th minute, while Fion Crackles scored a goal in the 58th minute. Vaishnavi Phalke scored the first goal for India in the ninth position in the FIH rankings. Manisha Chauhan’s penalty collided with the shot defender’s stick on the corner and the ball came out again, which Vaishnavi put inside the goal. India kept pressure on the seventh ranked England team at speed and short pass.
