New Delhi: Soon a fixed limit will be set for AC temperature in India. Recently, Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister, Manohar Lal Khattar announced that a new provision regarding air conditioning standards would be implemented soon. He said that the temperature of the air conditioner will be standardized between 20 ° C to 28 ° C, which means that the AC will not be cold than 20 ° C or heated above 28 ° C. He described this initiative as a unique experiment to stand the temperature settings.
According to the Energy Efficiency Bureau (BEE), by increasing the temperature of your air conditioner just 1 degree Celsius, you can save about 6 percent on your electricity bill. They say that many people set their air conditioner at 20-21 ° C, but the standard level is actually between 24–25 ° C. If you set your air conditioner from 20 to 24 degrees, you can save about 24 percent electricity.
If about half of users make this change, it can save 10 billion units of electricity, which can reduce about 8.2 million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions every year.
The government believes that this step will save energy in the country and will also benefit the environment. Now it has to be seen how people adopt these new rules and what is the effect of it.
