Indian Mains Hockey Team captain Harmanpreet Singh said on Friday that his team aims to win every match of the FIH Pro League and qualify for the World Cup to be held in 2026 by topping the league. India will launch its FIH Pro League campaign against Spain in Bhubaneswar on Saturday. India will face Spain again the next day. After this, he will play from Germany on 16 and 19 February.
Before the inauguration of the FIH Pro League, Harmanpreet said, “Our practice with Hockey India League is going well. We have been preparing for months, have learned a lot from HIL. We are also able to maintain our fitness. We just want to play good hockey, all the players are in good condition and our goal is to win every match (in Pro League).
The Mains Hockey World Cup will be held from 14 to 30 August 2026 at Wavere, Belgium and Amestailin, Netherlands. Currently, one of the world’s best dragflicors, Harmanpreet praised HIL’s ability to flick the top scorer Jugraj Singh’s ability and said that the domestic players are good signs for the national team.
He said, “We have seen some good domestic players in HIL. This was a good opportunity for the youth and they took full advantage of it. Jugraj scored the most goals and his performance was excellent. I am happy for him and it is also beneficial for the national team. “
