- Short-form content dominated in digital age
New Delhi: Old movies like highway, queen, marauder, Namaste London, Sanam Teri Kasam and others have got another life. Multiplex has also released the old films of Raj Kapoor and Shah Rukh Khan on the pretext of the Film Festival to bring back the lost brightness. Kalki Koechlin has given a clear reason for the re -release of classic films.
Actress Kalki Koechlin believes that the Bollywood is going through a period of crisis. He said on Alina Decisions Podcast that the film industry is going through recession, where people are struggling to make feature films, while in the digital age, short-form content is dominated.
On the crisis of Bollywood, Kalki Koechlin was asked to tell something about Bollywood, which no one knows, he said, ‘Bollywood is a recession; So they are releasing everything again. There is no content. Nothing is working. So everything is stopped. They also know but are afraid. They do not know what is working, what not. So everything is stopped, everything is stuck.
Film industry in dilemma!
Kalki said that everyone from top to bottom is feeling ‘stuck’, because no one knows where all this is going. Creative teams are being extracted and recruitment is being done again. They just do not understand why it is not working. People do not understand that this crisis is going on. And from top to bottom, I have talked to people. The people above are spending crores of rupees and they are not getting platforms to release. And there are small (Chotu) actors who have not got work for two years.
Virtual reality mentioned
Kalki again said that Bollywood will first have to accept that there is a problem, so that he can find himself again. He also said that ‘the attention of the audience has lost the attention’ and ‘watching the whole film is not easy to scroll without phone’. If there is no theater or not even OTT, then perhaps the path ahead can be VR (virtual reality).
