New Delhi. Weight is about 100 kg. Sachin Yadav, who has a six -foot five -inch long strong height, made his mark in the world by beating three superstars of the game of spear, including his Idol Neeraj Chopra, in his first World Championship.

Yadav, who belongs to a peasant family of Khekra village near Baghpat, finished fourth in the first attempt with a throw of 86.27 meters, improving his previous individual best performance of 85.16 meters. Before the competition, Vabber, who was considered a strong contender for the gold medal, finished fifth with an effort of 86.11 meters while defending champions Neeraj secured the eighth position. Nadeem of Pakistan finished tenth with 82.75 meters.

Yadav was 0.40 meters behind US bronze winner Cartis Thompson (86.67 meters). London Olympic 2012 champions Trinidad and Tobago’s Keshorn Walcott won the gold medal with 88.16 meters while Anderson Peters of Granada won a silver medal with 87.38 meters. Yadav practiced without a worthy coach in his early years. He was familiar with his neighbor Sandeep Yadav from the javelin throw, who saw the youth of this long stature playing cricket for entertainment.

During a friendly cricket match in his village, Sandeep saw Yadav bowling at a good speed. Yadav had earlier said, ‘It was a fun match of five or ten overs that usually play youth on the village grounds. Sandeep Bhai looked at me and said that my shoulder speed is good and I am throwing fast ball. He advised me to throw a javelin. Later he advised me to take training from well-known javelin throw coach Naval Singh in New Delhi (at the National Javelin throw Academy of Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium). This is how I started.

This is when Yadav was about 19 years old. Initially, Yadav did not have any appropriate coach and Sandeep, a less successful spear, was guiding him. After some competitions at the district and state level, Yadav first participated in a national competition during the inter-university competition in 2000 and finished seventh in the final with a throw of 66.09 meters. He could not touch a distance of 70 meters till 2021, but in the same year he suffered an elbow injury for which surgery had to be done. His father had to take a loan for his treatment.
