Virat Kohli alone who scored a century on August 15 In 2019, when India was on a tour of West Indies, Kohli set a unique record. He is the only Indian cricketer to score a century for the country on Independence Day. This historical century came in the third and final ODI of the series in Port of Spain. The match started on August 14 but due to rain, it was pulled for the initial hours of August 15 (India time).
It was time after midnight in India when the second innings started due to the delay in Trinidad and Tobago. After changing the date, Kohli redeemed the spot on the auspicious day of August 15 and played the captaincy innings. He scored an unbeaten 114 off 99 balls which included 14 fours. His strike rate was 115.15. The Indian team won a memorable victory and Virat Kohli became the only Indian to score a century on August 15.

In the first innings, the West Indies won the toss and scored 240 for 7 wickets in 35 overs. Chris Gayle played a fast innings of 72 runs off 41 balls. Khalil Ahmed took 3 wickets for India. Due to rain, a revised target of 255 runs in 35 overs was found under the Duckworth-Louis method. India easily won it by six wickets while being 15 balls.
