New Delhi. Indian shooters are constantly being seen in the ongoing shooting World Cup in Buenos Aires, Germany. Vijayveer Sidhu, who has participated in the Paris Olympics, topped the men’s 25 meter rapid-fire pistol event here on Wednesday and gave India a fourth gold medal in the ISSF World Cup.
Vijayveer scored 29 points in low -scores but exciting finals. He left behind Italy’s veteran Ricardo Magti. The Mazeti missed a point after eight series of five rapid-fairs. Chinese 19 -year -old shooter Yang Yuhao won a bronze medal.
Vijayveer targets gold
Vijayveer’s journey to the gold medal was not easy at all. The first series was difficult for the Indian player. He targeted only one accurate target in them. He then hit about three targets of the center and took the lead in the fifth series with an accurate target. Vijayveer equaled the Italian player in the sixth series. With this, the medal of both the players was confirmed. Vijayveer and Mazetti also targeted equally in the seventh phase. In the eighth and last series, Majetan hit three correct targets while Vijayveer confirmed his first medal in the ISSF World Cup with four targets.
Vijayveer gave credit to Guru
After winning the gold medal, Vijayveer said, I have played many finals with Gurpreet sir, Anish and others before. This includes national, trial etc. and I have done well in all this. He said, “So today I told myself that I have to do what I do there. That is, I have to feel that I can perform like Delhi here too. The most important thing is that I feel the same. He said, my attention was to control things that are in my reach and it did this work. Earlier on Tuesday, Suruchi Inder Singh won a gold medal in the women’s 10m air pistol event. India now has six medals including four gold.
