Washington: US President Donald Trump took a historic decision on Wednesday. He announced to impose at least 10 percent tariffs on the whole world. Trump has also included small island countries from far-flung tariffs. He did not spare allies like India, Britain, Australia, Japan. But the world was surprised when Trump showed softening on his staunch enemies. Countries like Russia, Cuba, Belarus, and North Korea have been exempted from this new tariff. A pattern has been seen in the list of Trump. That is, the country which imposes the tariff on America, Trump has put half of his tariff. Afghanistan imposes 49 percent tariffs, according to that it should have been charged 25 percent. But the Trump administration imposed only 10 percent tariff on it.
US Press Secretary Caroline Levit said that Russia was excluded from the tariff list as the current US sanctions already ‘stop trade’ there. Although the US does more business with Russia than countries like Mauritius and Brunei, they are still tariffs. However, close colleagues like Canada and Mexico have also been exempted from a new tariff this time, but this is because Trump has already put 25% tariff on them.
