Sumit Kumar, a resident of Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh, is an officer in the Ministry of External Affairs. On Monday, he reached Mangalnath Temple for Bhat Puja with his wife, 10-year-old son, 70-year-old parents and mother-in-law. He cut the receipt for worship from the government counter here and started waiting for his turn in front of the sanctum sanctorum.

Seeing this, the computer operator of the temple, Omprakash Thakur, reached the spot. He abused Sumit Kumar. Holding his hand and pushed out of the sanctum sanctorum. When the officer opposed this attitude, Thakur started scuffling. They slammed them.
When Sumit Kumar’s family intervened, Omprakash also misbehaved with him. The devotees, priests and other employees present on the spot stopped Omprakash.

Manager said- report sent to Collector Temple manager KK Pathak said- The report has been sent to the Collector against the accused Omprakash Thakur. Action will be taken against him soon. Devotees from all over the country come to visit the temple. Such incidents hurt the dignity of the temple.
The accused has been assaulted before Omprakash Thakur has already carried out such incidents. After the worship ended on 15 February 2022, he had a dispute over the matching of the amount with Dilip Gupta, an employee of the temple committee. It was turned into a fight.
During this time the glass of the temple office was broken. Thakur also suffered an injury to his hand. He was dismissed, but was restored on apologizing.
