Yes, Uber has started metro ticketing on its platform, so that the passengers of Delhi Metro will be able to buy tickets directly through the Uber app. The service has started with the help of Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) and is the first partnership of Ride-Heling Company with India’s ambitious Digital Public Infrastructure Network.
This feature will start in the capital and will be launched in three other cities of India by 2025. According to the Uber, the company is also planning to introduce B2B logistics through ONDC, so that businesses will be able to use Uber’s on-demand delivery network without their own fleet.
First time in the country
This is Uber’s first integration with India’s digital public infrastructure and aims to make public transport more easy and accessible. The Uber currently offers several transport options on its app, including two -wheelers, autos, cars and buses. The company said in a release that the metro ticketing feature will be expanded to three more Indian cities in 2025.
Uber Chief Technology Officer Praveen Nappalli Naga said that this partnership will help Uber to become a complete mobility platform. He further informed that this is an important step towards connecting users with many transport means in the journey of Integration Uber.
