In Churachandpur district of Manipur, violence took place between Jomi and Hamar tribe on March 18.
Curfew was imposed till 17 April on Wednesday due to a dispute between two tribes in Churachandpur district of Manipur. On Tuesday, there was tension between Jomi and Hamar tribe to hoist the flags of their respective communities at the disputed place. This disputed place is between V Munhoih and Rengkai villages.
Curfew has also been imposed in Vindi, Samulamalan and Sangikot along with V Munhoih and Rengkai. However, curfew has been exempted from 6 am to 5 pm in these areas.
On Wednesday, the Collector held a meeting of people from both the villages. During this time both communities said that this dispute is of land, not ethnic. The meeting appealed people not to maintain peace and not spread rumors.
Earlier, there was violence between the two tribes on the removal of the flag on 18 March. In this violence, a person named Rupui Pakumte of our tribe was killed and many others were injured.

March 16: Richard Hamar, the leader of our tribe, was attacked by unknown people late on Sunday evening. Richard was driving his car, which survived hitting a two -wheeler. This caused Richard’s two -wheeler to be stunned by the youth. Which later proceeded so much that the other side attacked Richard.
17 March: After increasing tension in the area, people of our tribe started stone pelting on security forces. To handle the situation, the security forces released tear gas shells on the miscreants and fired aerial firing. After this, curfew was imposed in the area.
Shah had said- there was no violence in Manipur for the last four months
Union Home Minister Amit Shah said in the Lok Sabha on 3-4 March that there has been no violence in Manipur for the last four months from December to March. Relief camps have ensured food, medicines and medical facilities.
Amit Shah said- After a decision by the High Court, ethnic violence started in Manipur due to reservation dispute between two communities. These are neither riots nor terrorism.
