Khandva. Radheshyam Pawar, who belongs to a small village in Khandwa district of Madhya Pradesh, has proved that no difficult path can stop if there is a passion. Despite being disabled with both legs, Radheshyam plays cricket by sitting on a wheelchair and does not just play, but fours and sixes, and excite the field.
Radheshyam is the only player of MP who has represented many states in wheelchair cricket. He has so far played for teams like Delhi Superstar, Chennai Superstar. Recently he joined the trials of India team in Gujarat and now he hopes that after selection he will represent India in the international tournament to be held in London.
Inspiration in confidence things
The confidence in his words reflect: “People think that disabled cannot play cricket, but we have done this with the mercy of God and my own hard work. I am the first wheelchair cricketer in Khandwa district who reached the national level,” Radheshyam says.
Wheelchair Cricket: Fantastic like every task
He further states that there is a team of 11 players in wheelchair cricket. Bowling, batting and fielding, everything is done from wheelchair. Running is also done by that. They proudly say that as normal players run in the field, they run their wheelchairs like air.
Local and national level identity
Till now Radheshyam has played in many places including Delhi, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and has also organized a tournament in Khandwa himself. His dream is to play for India at the international level. Radheshyam smiles when asked about the favorite player: “I am a big fan of Sachin Tendulkar. One day I want to meet him, as well as India wants to play for the country.”
