New Delhi: Born on 3 February 1938, a traditional Muslim family, actress Waheeda Rehman was very fond of dance and took professionally training with her sisters in Indian classical Bharatanatyam. At the age of 17, he acted as a dancer in his first film Rasulu Marai. After the release of Raj Khosla’s thirsty, Waheeda Rehman became an overnight sensation at the age of 19. After this, she was seen in many films like Solwa Sal, paper flower, black market, fourteenth moon, Sahib Bibi and Ghulam, twenty years later, guide, stone sanam, Ram and Shyam, Neil Kamal, Khamoshi, Reshma and Shera, sometimes, Namkeen, Chandni, Lamhe and all these films were super hit in that period. He has worked in 90 films in his career.
Waheeda Rahman wanted to become an actress but a doctor
Waheeda Rehman once revealed that she never wished to become an actress. Rather, from the beginning, she wished to become a doctor. Because it was considered a respectable profession among Muslim families. In a conversation with Twiks India, the veteran actress shared, ‘I wanted to become a doctor, because in those days medical families were the only respectable profession for Muslim families. I used to make face by looking in the mirror. When my father asked why I do this, I said ‘I want to make people laugh and make them cry.’
Many people would be unaware that Waheeda Rehman’s family was against her marriage to actor Shashi Rekhi, who is usually known as her stage name Kamaljeet. After the end of her relationship with Guru Dutt, she fell in love with Shashi Rekhi, who is popular for her acting in films like Son of India, Shagoon, Heer Ranjha.
When Salim Khan advised Waheeda Rehman to marry
Waheeda Rehman was upset after her family rejected her relationship with Shashi Rekhi. During this difficult period, Salman Khan’s father and veteran script writer Salim Khan advised him to listen to his heart and keep all the noise aside. Waheeda Rehman obeyed his advice and went against his family and married him with his love. In 1974, he married Shashi and became the parents of Sohail Rekhi and Kashvi Rekhi. Please tell that Shashi Rekhi died on November 21, 2000 for an unknown reason.
