After Operation Sindoor, Pakistan also targeted the symbol post of Pathankot. This is the same post that Kamaljeet Singh, a resident of Amritsar on 4 December 1971, clashed with the Pakistani army alone.

Nayak Kamaljeet continued to fight Pakistanis despite low ammunition. He was later arrested by hundreds of Pakistan soldiers. The Pakistanis had hung his head from the berry tree near the symbol post of Pathankot and wrote-“Here is our BSF of India”.
Their Due to courage and sacrifice, on 7 December 1971, BSF and the army drove the enemy with this post in joint operation. Later, the body of martyr Kamaljeet was also rescued from the occupation of Pakistani soldiers.

Know who was the hero Kamaljeet Kamaljeet was born on 18 July 1945 in Amritsar. His mother’s name was Kartar Kaur and father Bahadur Singh. He passed 10th class from Government High School Amritsar. After this he was recruited radio operator in 20 battalions of BSF. He sacrificed Pathankot’s symbol post in the 1971 war.

The year 1971, date-4 December
The war between India and Pakistan had started. During this time, the Pakistani army started fierce shelling on the symbol post of BSF on the zero line of Pathankot in Punjab. Here the hero Kamaljeet was paying duty as a radio operator. He informed his colleagues as a radio operator.
Kamaljeet collided alone when the companions back in heavy shelling Kunwar Ravinder Vicky of Gurdaspur, who worked for the good of the soldiers, said that Kamaljeet told the fellow soldiers about the attack of Pakistan, and he refused to respond to the attack saying that his number is very low and it is good to retreat. Saying this, the fellow soldiers retreated, but Kamaljeet told him, if you want to go, then I will not let my post be occupied.

Fought till final bullet, Pakistani army arrested Kanwaljeet, with limited ammunition when the companions retreated, continued to respond to the fire of the Pakistani army for several hours and kept the post safe. Meanwhile, Pakistan’s soldiers came very close to the post and arrested the hero Kamaljeet.

Hanged on the berry tree with a head After the arrest, the soldiers of Pakistan misbehaved with the war and put their heads. After this, the torso was kept in its possession and hung the head from a berry tree near the symbol post. It also left a letter for BSF.
BSF wrote-This is the gift from our side After Kamaljeet’s head, Pakistani soldiers sent a message to Riton with it. It was written in it that here is our gift to Indian BSF. BSF recovered the severed head and conveyed the message written on it to the authorities.
BSF-Army conducted a joint operation on the third day of the incident On the third day of the incident i.e. 7 December 1971, BSF and Army started a joint operation against the Pakistani army. The Indian Army killed Pakistan’s troops and destroyed their tanks and forced the Pakistani army to retreat. After this, captured the symbol post and waved the tricolor.
Nayak’s body brought from Pakistan’s occupation After the joint operation, the BSF and the Army chased the Pakistan Army back and killed many Pakistanis in exchange for the sacrifice of their hero Kamaljeet. After this, from the occupation of the army of Pakistan, hero brought Kamaljeet’s body and he was cremated with state honors.

Pakistan lost badly, left the panton tank and ran away In the 1971 war, the Pakistani army, who was planning to enter India and capture Punjab via Punjab on the basis of Panton tanks, escaped leaving the same panton tanks. Indian soldiers not only destroyed many tanks of Pakistan as well as captured several tanks.
BSF brought with many panton tanks The Indian Army brought many tanks of Pakistan with them after driving the Pakistan Army out of Punjab’s front and symbol posts. Jeet tanks still set up in Pathankot, a tank chowk The Indian Army and BSF brought the won tanks with them and kept it. They were not returned to Pakistan after the war was over. A panton tank won from Pakistan is still installed in the Chowk of Pathankot. This square is known as Tank Chowk.
Symbal post was named after Nayak Kamaljeet After the end of the war with Pakistan, the symbol post was named after the hero Kamaljeet and a grand memorial was built here. The people of Symbal believe that even today the hero Kamaljeet protects his village. Sometimes they see an angel sitting on a horse in white clothes. Although it is prevalent in people, Bhaskar does not claim any such fact.

People stayed in Simbal village even after Operation Sindoor After Operation Sindoor, there were explosions around the symbol post during the drone attack by Pakistan. During this time, the people of this village were not scared and stayed in the village itself. Even now people are cultivating near the zero line and preparing for paddy paneer.
