The last rites of the top Naxal leader Baswa Raju were cremated on Monday evening in Narayanpur, Chhattisgarh. Along with Baswa, the police have cremated 8 Naxalites. Police say that the deadbody was rotting, so the magistrate’s order has been burnt.

Let me tell you that an encounter took place on May 21 in Abujhmad, Bastar. In this, 27 Naxalites including Baswa Raju, a prize money of Rs 10 crore, were killed. The bodies of 8 Naxalites have been cremated by the police. However, the bodies of 20 Naxalites have been handed over to the family members. Narayanpur SP Prabhat Kumar has confirmed this.

Police said- clear legal claim did not come
The bodies of 20 of the 27 Naxalites killed in the Kudmail-Kalhaja-Jatalore encounter have been handed over to their families after verification of the claim. The family members of Maoist cadre Kosi alias Hungi reached Narayanpur on May 26 to take the dead body, in view of the possibility of spreading infectious disease due to the body, requested to be performed in the funeral Narayanpur headquarters itself.
There was no clear legal claim for the bodies of the remaining 7 Naxalites. These included the body of CPI (Maoist) general secretary Baswa Raju. The funeral of these 7 bodies was performed in Narayanpur as per the order of the Executive Magistrate. At the same time, Kosi Hungi was cremated by family members in Narayanpur itself.
