Sai Paranjpe told that Leela ji was always very clear about her fees. No matter how small the roll was, she used to charge her fixed fee of ₹ 1000 daily and never compromised. Sharing a funny anecdote, Sai said that once famous filmmaker Satyajit Ray approached Leela Mishra for a role in a chess player. But Leela ji could not recognize her and asked directly – “I will get my daily fees, right?”
