Bangkok: Indian boxer Pawan Bartwal entered the quarter-finals of the men’s 55 kg category of the men of the fourth Thailand Open International Boxing Tournament with a brilliant win over Sao Rangse of Cambodia here on Sunday.
National Championship silver medalist Bartwal dominated the match with excellent footwork and strategic skills and won the second consecutive win in the tournament.
This boxer from Supuri village in Uttarakhand took care of the defensive stance in the beginning. He waited for his occasions and started dominating the match after hitting a sharp punch on the opponent’s face.
India has launched a 19 -member team for this prestigious tournament organized under the aegis of World Boxing -backed Asian institution. This includes China, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, South Korea and top boxers from host Thailand.
