The court granted bail to the accused Abdul Sathr and said that he did not have a direct role in the murder.
The Supreme Court on Wednesday said that no one can be imprisoned for ideology. A bench of Justice Abhay S Oka and Justice Ujjal Bhuiyan made this comment while granting bail to the accused of killing a leader of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).
During the hearing, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) counsel said that the ideology leads to serious crimes. On this, the court said- you cannot put anyone in jail for his ideology. We are watching this trend. Someone adopted a special ideology, so they are put in jail.
In 2022, RSS leader Srinivasan was killed in Palakkad district of Kerala. The then general secretary of the Kerala Unit of the Popular Front of India (PFI), a banned organization in the case, has been accused.

Court said- process cannot be punished The NIA lawyer argued that even though the FIR is not named Sathr, as PFI General Secretary, he did work like recruitment of cadres and training for weapons. He has 71 cases registered.
The lawyer appeared on behalf of Sathr argued that all cases are related to strike incidents. He has got bail in all these cases.
On this, the NIA lawyer said- There are seven cases under Section 353 of the IPC and three under Section 153. Sathr continued to repeat the crime. There is no other way other than detaining Sathr to prevent crime. The ideology leads to serious crimes.
On this, Justice Oka said- this is a problem of perspective. The view is that we will keep the person behind bars. At the same time, Justice Bhuiyan said, so the accused is prosecuted and punished, but this process cannot be punished.
