Highlights
- “Sugar Free” means very low sugar or artificial sweetness.
- “No Added Sugar” can contain natural sugar.
- This information is important for diabetes and weight loss.
Nowadays, whenever we buy something packaged in the market, it is often written on it “No added sugar” or “sugar free”. Many people think that both mean the same, that is, there is no sugar in that thing. But in fact, both these words mean different and if you do not know their true meaning, then you can make wrong choices for health. Therefore, it is very important to know the difference between these two, especially for those who are diabetes patients or who want to stay away from sugar to lose weight.
On the other hand, “no added sugar” means that no additional sugar has been added in that product. That is, the company has not mixed sugar separately in it. But this does not mean that there is no sugar at all. Many times such products contain natural sugar, which is already present in it. For example, fruit juice contains natural sugar called fructose. If a packed juice is of “no added sugar”, then there is no sugar nugget, but the fruit has its own sweetness i.e. natural sugar. Therefore, it cannot be called completely “Sugar Free”.
So whenever you buy any food or drink, look carefully what is written on it “Sugar Free” or “No Added Sugar”. And only then decide whether it is right for you or not. Especially if you are a patient of diabetes or are losing weight, then this information is very important for you. By understanding the label, by making the right choice, you can improve your health and inadvertently avoid excessive intake of sugar.
