Bilaspur: Student is an important part of life to learn from self -sufficiency and new experiences. But in today’s digital age, this experience sometimes becomes a mental burden. In particular, students who live in hostels away from home for studies are facing dual beats of loneliness and mobile addiction. Experts from Chhattisgarh Institute of Medical Sciences (Sims) at Bilaspur have expressed serious concern over this growing problem. He says that the mental state of students is becoming increasingly unstable, which is negatively impacting not only their studies but also their social life and self-confidence.
According to Sims experts, the feeling of loneliness among the students living in the hostels is continuously increasing. Away from their home and family, these students are getting more attracted towards mobile and social media, due to which they are becoming socially isolated. This condition is gradually causing depression, stress and mental exhaustion.
Mobile addiction causes mental instability
Students who are busy in mobile throughout the day are lost in the digital world. This addiction bites them from the real world. Experts say that mental problems like ‘Digital Disassers’, ‘Social Computer Disorder’ and ‘Schemeical Depression’ are emerging rapidly due to constant contact with mobile.
Social life and studies are also affecting
This mental imbalance is directly affecting the students’ education and social life. Decline in self-esteem, lack of inspiration and tendency to compare with others is making students more mentally weak.
Sims initiative to improve
Taking the problem seriously, the Sims administration has started counseling services and interactive activities to improve the mental health of the students. Superintendent of the institute, Dr. Lakhan Singh said that efforts are being made to give home -like atmosphere in the hostel. Under this, cultural programs, sports competitions and group discussions are being organized so that students can communicate with each other and keep distance from mobile addiction.
