The script of the Neem tree came in the year 1991 by Rahi Masoom Raza. Gurbir Singh Grewal was the director of Sho. And the producer was Navaman Malik. Nida Fazli was written by Nida Fazli and Jagjit Singh had written the title song of the show’s title song ‘Mouth Ki Baat Hurne Hari…’. There the zamindar and his bonded laborer Budhai Ram i.e. Pankaj Kapoor created panic with his role. Apart from him in the serial, stars like Arun Bali, SM Zaheer, Sakshi Tanwar, Preeti Khare were seen in important roles.
Why was the show named ‘Neem tree’
The reason behind renaming this serial ‘Neem tree’ was that Budhai Ram had planted a neem tree on the birth of a son. As his son grows up, that tree also became bigger. But his son does not think big. Sho was shot in Tiyari village of Sultanpur district of UP. Due to the serial, this village was also very much discussed.
Let us know that the story of this show starts with a small story of Vilayat Jaffrey. Jafri was the station director of Doordarshan Lucknow at that time. He entrusted the responsibility of making a show on his story ‘Neem Ka Tree’ to the innocent Raza. He wrote 26 episodes and died in 1992. After this, others fulfilled the remaining episodes. The popularity of this show with a total of 58 episodes had increased so much that later a book with the same name was also printed.
