New Delhi: Instagram Influencer Sharmishtha Panouli was arrested by Kolkata Police from Gurugram on the night of 30 May after a controversial video, in which Sharmishtha criticized several Bollywood stars to keep quiet on Operation vermilion. Actress -turned -leader Kangana Ranaut has supported Influenceer Sharmishtha Panoli amid controversy. Kangana Ranaut described the action on Instagram Stories as rigid.

Sharing the picture of Kangana Sharmistha, the note wrote, ‘I believe that Sharmistha used some wrong words to speak, but nowadays most of the youth use such words. He apologized for his statements and this is enough. They do not need to bother any more. They should be released immediately. Sharmistha Panouli, a student of Law University, Pune, allegedly removed the original video and apologized to the public after the online reaction. However, by then a complaint was lodged with the Kolkata police. Legal notices were also sent to Panoli and his family before the arrest.

Bollywood celebrities were targeted
The video was described by people as inflammatory, in which some Bollywood celebrities were targeted for their silence on Operation Sindoor. The Indian Army carried out Operation Sindoor in response to the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on 22 April. Many people appreciated the military action, but there was a fierce debate on social media and other places, in which some influencers expressed strong and controversial opinions.

Threat to freedom to speak!
Sharmishtha Panoli’s arrest has re -exposed concerns about freedom of speaking in digital space, where the comments of young content creators are being tested from a legal perspective. People are appreciating the support of Kangana’s influencer. Talking about the work, Kangana was last seen in ‘Emergency’, which is a political drama on former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, which she wrote, directed and produced.
