New Delhi. Many smartphone users have told that their lost devices are getting back through the courier 2-3 years ago. Surprisingly, this is not happening due to changing the heart of the thief, but the government has implemented a system that users can easily report their lost device to the police, which helps them in early recovery. This system is the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR), which is part of the communication partner portal. Through this platform, users can block and trace their lost or stolen mobile phones. By blocking the IMEI number of these devices, they are made impossible to use, making illegal occupation and resale. Apart from this, this initiative also helps in rapid recovery of lost phones.
Recently, the Ghaziabad police have recovered about 1,200 smartphones using this system and people from many states have got back through their handset courier.
