Darbhanga: India’s emerging squash player Shreyans Jha has created a new history by winning the title of India Junior Open. Shreyans, who hails from Darbhanga, Bihar, has now become number one in the Asia Under-15 squash rankings. At the age of just 15 years, Shreyans dreams to win medals for India in the Olympics and illuminate the name of the country.

Earlier in July 2025, Shreyans caught everyone’s attention by winning the European Junior Open Squash Under-15 title held in Germany. Apart from this, he secured first place in Central India Slam, Southern Slam and Northern Slam this year. Also, the 32nd Asian Junior Junior Championships performed brilliantly and strengthened its ranking.

Commander in father navy

Mrigank Shekhar Jha, father of Shreyans Jha, a resident of Darbhanga in Bihar, is a commander in the Indian Navy, while mother Rashmi Jha is associated with the education sector. Shreyans is currently training from coach Avinash Bhavani at Bombay Gymkhana Sports Club in Mumbai.

At the forefront of studies
According to the father, Shreyans has always topped the game as well as studies and has done well in Olympiad examinations. Shreyans considers her mother as her greatest idol. He says that the mother’s biggest contribution behind her success is, who paid attention to the game of more son than her career.
Doon has also been the captain of the Shreans football team while studying in school. Apart from squash, they also play chess and basketball.

Dream of medal in Olympics
In a special conversation with News18, Shreyans Jha said- “My dream is to win the medal for India in the Olympics and illuminate the name of the country.” Shreyans, who took inspiration from cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni, tennis star Rafael Nadal and footballer Leonal Messi, are now ready to create a new identity of India on the international stage.
