Sports will get big opportunity from Indian shooting league: Mary Tucker

New Delhi: Tokyo Olympic silver medalist Mary Tucker believes that the Indian Shooting League (SLI) will provide a big opportunity to develop this game around India and around the world.

The 23 -year -old shooter, who won a silver medal in the 10m air rifle team event in Tokyo Olympics 2020, said that he likes to compete in team -forming tournaments.

He represented the NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association, America) competitions and also represented the Salterndorf Team in Bundesaliga, Germany, along with representing Kentuki University and West Virginia.

Tucker said, ‘I like the league very much. I have experience of NCAA and Bundesleiga. I like to be in the team and the audience likes to support the entire team.

He said in the release issued here, ‘I love the format of competition of top athletes and junior athletes simultaneously. I think this is a big opportunity to develop shooting games around India and the world.

The ISSF has allocated time between November 20 to December for the first session of SLI. The league will have mixed team events in the pistol (10 m, 25 m), rifle (10 m, 50 m 3 positions) and shotgun (trap and skeet).

Tucker said, ‘India is really at high level in this game, so it is a good opportunity for Indian shooters to compete with other countries. However, it is also a great opportunity for international shooters as we will really get a chance to compete with high-level Indian shooters.

He said, ‘I think it will be a very good opportunity to connect fans and create interest in this game all over the world.’
