Today i.e. on June 11, bathing full moon is being celebrated. On this day, Lord Jagannath along with his brother Balabhadra and sister Subhadra take a bath in front of the devotees in the Sri temple. In Puri of Orissa, Lord Jagannath is bathed with the water of the gold well built in the temple only on this day in the whole year, hence it is called bathing Purnima. For bathing, 108 clocks of gold are filled with water, musk, saffron, sandalwood and many types of medicines are added to them. In the bathing pavilion, Gods are enthroned at three large posts. Many types of cotton clothes are wrapped on God, so that their wood will be saved from water. Then Lord Jagannath is bathed with 35, Balabhadra ji 33, Subhadraji is bathed with 22 pots. After this great bath, God becomes unwell.

God is kept in solitude when he is ill

After excessive bathing, God gets fever and they go into “Anavasar” or solitude. The doors of the temple are closed for fifteen days. During this time only some servants in the form of Vaidya serve God. Lord Jagannath is worn comfortable white cotton clothes, jewelery is removed and only fruits, juices and fluids are given in the diet.

On the fifth day, special Phulery oil comes from the Oriya Math, which gives light massage. Blood sandalwood and musk are also applied to God. Neem, turmeric, myrds, cloves etc. are mixed with herbs in a medicinal decoction called Dashmularishta and offered modaks to God. This Ayurvedic treatment makes God complete healthy, which makes them re -prepared for the rath yatra.

Recognition: Gold brick well, it contains water of all pilgrimage It is a 4-5 feet wide square well. This Jagannath temple is built in the middle of the idol of Goddess Sheetla and her vehicle lion in the courtyard itself. In this, Pandya King Indradyumna had gold bricks on the walls downwards. The priests of the temple say that this well has water of many pilgrimages.

Its lid made of cement-lahe is weighing about one and a half to two tons, which is removed by 12 to 15 servants. Whenever the well opens, gold bricks are seen in it. There is a hole in the lid, so that devotees put gold items in it.

15 days of Anavasar Puja: Lord Jagannath will remain ill from 11 to 25 June According to tradition, Lord Jagannath gets fever after Devasanan, so he will not see anyone from 11 to 25 June. When ill, God will not be placed on the main throne and placed in a room made of bamboo wood in the temple itself. For 15 days, instead of 56 bhog, it is enjoyed by materials, milk, honey etc. with medicines. This is called Anavasar Puja of God.

  • On June 16, there will be a special oil massage of Ayurveda in the organs of God on Anavasar Panchami. It is called Phullary Oil. It is believed that after applying this oil, God gradually starts getting relief from fever.
  • On the 20th, Anavasar will remain Dashami, on this day Lord Ratna will sit on the throne.
  • On 21, special medicines will be taken on the body of God. It is called barn.
  • On the 25th, God’s Deity will be decorated and decorated.
  • There will be a new puberty darshan on 26 June. On this day, God will be taken permission for the rath yatra.
  • Gundicha Rath Yatra will begin on 27 June.
