Singapore Open Badminton Tournament: PV Sindhu out in Satvik-Chirag Quarter Final

Singapore: The Indian men’s doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty entered the quarter -finals of the Singapore Open Badminton Tournament here on Thursday, but former world champion PV Sindhu fell out of the tournament with necklace.

Satwik and Chirag won the second round of the second round and won the first game against the seventh seed Indonesian pair of the Sabar Workman Gutama and Moh Reza Pahlavi Isfahani, winning 19-21 21-16 21-19 in one hour 14 minutes for one hour 14 minutes.

In the next round, the Indian pair will face Goh and Noor Izuddin’s second seed Malaysian pair. The Indian pair, who had been returning after struggling with fitness problems for the last few weeks, performed brilliantly.

Two-time Olympic medalist Sindhu, however, lost 9-21 21-18 16-21 in a 65-minute tough match against the world’s number five player Chain Eufei.

Sindhu, who slipped to 17th position in the world rankings, showed her old form in the second game. He won the second game 21–18 after taking a 19–12 lead.

However, in the third and decisive game, the Chinese player won the match, making his strong smash and better control over the court.

Sindhu, who won 21-14, 21-9 against Canada’s Wayne You Zheng in the first round, failed to maintain this rhythm in the second round. India also disappointed in men’s singles when HS Prannoy lost 16-21 14-21 against Christo Popov of France in the pre-quarterfinals.
