Singapore: India’s top men’s doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty entered the semi -finals on Friday at the Singapore Open Super 750 badminton tournament here with Goh to Fai and Noor Izuddin’s top -ranked pair of Malaysia with a win in straight games.

For the past few weeks, the Indian pair, who have been struggling with fitness related issues, won their first title in the session by winning 21-17, 21-15 with a great use of strong defensive sports and nets in a 39-minute quarter-final match.

This is the third semi -final of this session for the Indian pair. Earlier, he also reached the last-four stages in Malaysia and India Open this year.

The former number one pair of Satwik and Chirag had a record of 6-2 against the Malaysia pair earlier. The pair of Goh and Noor, however, defeated Satvik and Chirag in the previous match of both couples.

From the beginning of the match, the two couples were trying to dominate each other, causing the score of 7-7 in the initial game. The Indian pair took a three -point lead during the break from Satvik’s brilliant service.

The Indian pair maintained a 15-11 lead, keeping pressure. The Malaysia duo tried to come back but they had no answer to Satvik’s very strong smash. The Indian pair achieved three matches points and sat on the net for Goh Service’s return shot.

After winning the first game, Chirag made some mistakes at the beginning of the second game but the Indian pair did not give the rival pair a chance to return with a score of 6-6. Satvik and Chirag then scored four consecutive points to lead 11-7.

The Indian pair after this completely dominated. Satvik made the score 16–10 with a strong smash. In the end, from another great return, the Indian pair got five matches points and they won another mistake of the opposing pair.
