New Delhi. Indian badminton star PV Sindhu has started with a stunning victory in the Singapore Open. The two -time Olympic medalist started his campaign by defeating a Canadian player in the first round of the tournament. PV Sindhu defeated Canada’s Wen You Zhang in straight games on Tuesday.
PV Sindhu won 21-14, 21-9 in the 31-minute match. Now in the second round, Sindhu will face Tokyo Olympic gold medal winner and World No. 5 China’s Chen You Fee. Apart from the Indian star, the day was disappointing for the rest of the Indian players. Malvika Bansod, Anmol Tharb, Priyanshu Rajawat and Kiran George all lost in the first round.
Both Malvika and Priyanshu lost the lead of one game. Malavika lost to Thailand’s eighth seed Supanida Katethong 21-14, 18-21, 11-21. Priyanshu was defeated by Japan’s seventh seed Kodai Naraoka 21-14, 10-21, 14-21. The match lasted more than an hour. Chain defeated Anmol. The Indian player showed a very good game in the second game but finally lost 11-21, 22-24.
