Shammi Kapoor was already online before the Internet arrives in India! Connection from Vsnl in 1994, Bollywood’s first ‘Digital Hero’

New Delhi. The famous Hindi cinema actor Shammi Kapoor died on 14 years ago i.e. 14 August 2011. He is always remembered for brilliant acting, passionate dance and charismatic screen presence. But very few people know that among the three sons of Prithviraj Kapoor, second number Shammi Kapoor was one of the first Internet users in India.

In the 90s, when the Internet did not come officially in India, Shammi Kapoor was using it. He took an internet connection through Steve Jobs company Apple Inc. At that time he was 50 years old and started exploring the World Wide Web. In an interview, he told that in 1994, British Telecom gave him a special line through VSNL, while the Internet started in India in 1995.

Shammi Kapoor was the first person to create a Kapoor family website

Due to this hobby of technology, he bought Apple Macintosh Classic Desktop and took an international dial-up connection. He created a special website. This ‘Kapoor family website’ with junglee.org.in URL is still present and is in its original design, which was created by Shammi Kapoor himself. No new update has been made so far, but it still has rare pictures related to the set of ‘Junglee’ star and Kapoor family information.

Technology made his passion after films
Shammi Kapoor established the Internet users Community of India (IUCI) and played an important role in advancing organizations like Ethical Hackers Association. After the film career, he made computer and internet his world. He was always a MAC user and was also active on social media.
