New Delhi: Mohammad Shariful Islam Shahzad, accused in the case of attack on Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan, filed a petition for bail. The accused said that he is innocent and a false case has been registered against him. But the Mumbai Police has raised strong objection to this. The police filed a reply on the petition and opposed the bail of the accused and demanded the court to reject it.
Police said in the court that accused Mohammad Shariful Islam Shahzad is a Bangladeshi citizen and is living illegally in India. If the accused is released on bail, he can run to Bangladesh and intervene in the investigation. On the bail of the accused, it can be feared that he may again be involved in such serious crimes.
Next hearing will be held on 9 April
The police also said that their crime is very serious and there is strong and concrete evidence against the accused. Keeping all these things in mind, the police appealed to the court to dismiss the bail plea of the accused so that the crime does not double and the case can be investigated properly. The next hearing of the case will be held on April 9, when the court will take a final decision on the bail plea.
