‘Sanwali hoon from above …’ Sultan did not get ‘Sultan’ even after 12 auditions, Anushka Sharma replaced, actress spill pain

New Delhi: Actress Anupriya Goenka has worked in famous films like ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’, ‘Padmavat’ and ‘War’. She has also appeared in successful OTT projects like ‘Sacred Games’, ‘Abhay’ and ‘Criminal Justice’. However, a project that she missed was Salman Khan’s film ‘Sultan’. He auditioned for the lead role more than 10 times, but Anushka Sharma got this role.

The actress told Siddharth Kannan that she is not a typical Yash Raj Films heroine. Anupriya Goenka said, ‘I auditioned for’ Sultan ‘. Then they were looking for new faces. I had about 11-12 tests. There was an audition first, then the second audition took place, then a music video test took place. Then there was a dance test with Vaibhavi (Merchant) and then readings with Ali (Abbas Zafar).

When Anupriya met the director
Anupriya Goenka further said, ‘That one month process was very beautiful. Thankfully, the entire process was a month for me. If he had gone for 6-7 months or a year, then the person would have been upset. Until I met Ali, I did not even know that ‘Sultan’ was being talked about, because he did not give you real scripts in Yash Raj. They give you some more scripts and get you auditioned on it. It came to know that when I met Ali and mentioned ‘Mr. Khan’, I realized that it was about playing the lead role in ‘Sultan’.

The actress further said, ‘When I did not get this role, the whole process was going to break the heart. Of course, I am dark, which I am very proud of. I like to be dark. But I am not a typical YRF heroine, right? The film ‘Sultan’ proved to be a blockbuster at the box office and the role of Anushka Sharma’s wrestler was appreciated by the audience.
