The league, being held for the first time in India, will participate in six franchises Delhi Rados, Hyderabad Heroes, Kalinga Black Tigers, Chennai Bulls, Mumbai Dreamers and Bangalore Brevarts.

The format of this league will be rugby 7, which is recognized as an Olympic game. Unlike the traditional rugby union format, there are seven players of each team on the ground in the rugby 7 format and there are two half -half of seven minutes. In the traditional format, one team consists of 15 players and two halfs of 20-20 minutes are played.

However, keeping in mind the TV audience in RPL, it has been made four minutes of four minutes and there will be a two -minute break between each quarter. Trivedi said, “This is a small format and we feel that it works very well because the audience likes to see the small format.”
