According to sources, Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma of One Day Format is allegedly keen to play in three informal ODIs between India A and Australia A. These three matches, which will be played in Kanpur between September 30 and October 5, will be just before the Indian team’s tour of Australia where they will play 3 ODIs and 5 T20 matches. Hitman was last seen in an international match in the final of the Champions Trophy earlier this year, after which he announced his retirement from Test cricket.
Hitman Rohit has expressed his desire to participate in three informal ODIs for the preparation for the tour of Australia starting on October 19. The report said that Hitman started training a month ago, but he wants to play against Australia A for match fitness so that they can prepare better and do not weaken for the tour of Australia. This news has come amid reports in which it is being claimed that this series against Australia can be Sharma’s last series. ODI is the only format in which Rohit is currently active, he has retired from T20 in 2024 and in May 2025.
Indian cricket is going through a phase in which new news is knocking every day. The latest reports said that the selectors are looking ahead of Rohit Sharma for the ODI World Cup to be held in 2027. It further said that the Indian captain will be asked to play in the Vijay Hazare Trophy starting in December 2025 to stay in the race to make a place in the ODI team. On Thursday, a report also claimed that the selectors are expected to hold a meeting to discuss the future of the ODI team after the conclusion of the Asia Cup.
