After North Zone’s first innings lead, Ryan Parag told reporters after making it to the semi -finals, ‘It was nice to play in the match. I mean when I came here to play the match, this was my main goal. I did not pay much attention to the performance. I just wanted to enjoy a little. I have not played competitive cricket for a long time. I have not played any cricket since IPL. I was facing a lot of stress in the IPL too but it was a good performance. It was not good to see the over fields we did.
He said, ‘Otherwise I will go back to domestic cricket and do what I have been doing for the last two-three years. I will try to stay the top scorer in every match, do well in the IPL and play again for the country. Parags were disappointed that they could not take the former area forward in the Dalip Trophy. Parag said, ‘He played better cricket. I have to give credit for this. In the first innings, he scored 230 runs for five wickets and then the way Nishant shared with his wicketkeeper Kanhaiya and then Aqib also performed well.
Parag said, ‘Therefore I think we could have performed better while bowling in the first innings but then we should have reached at least 350 and then they should have tried to stop them.’ Parag said that once the North Zone took a huge lead in the first innings, it became difficult for his team to return. He said, “Once we did not do this (to get out of the north region quickly in the first innings), he had a lead of about 200 runs and then his batsmen played very well and snatched the match from us.”
