Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate more than 97,500 4G towers of BSNL across the country on Saturday (27 September). Along with this, he will also launch the indigenous 4G stack of the government company. That is, now India will join the five countries of the world which can make and supply the software and hardware related to 4G. Let us know that till now only countries like Sweden, Denmark, China and South Korea were included in this list. A total of Rs 37,000 crore has been spent to prepare this network. This is being considered a major step for India’s self -reliant India vision. Officials have confirmed that the Prime Minister will be inaugurated in Jharsuguda, Odisha.
This will easily reach people living in rural areas to facilities like government schemes, health services, online education and employment. This step is very important for Digital India Mission and self -reliant India.
Swadeshi 4G stack has been created by C-DOT (Core Technology), Tejas Networks (Radio Access) and TCS (System Integration). The 4G network of BSNL is designed in such a way that it can be easily upgraded to 5G network. It is expected that BSNL 5G service will start in Delhi and Mumbai by the end of the year.
Out of these 97,500 towers, 4,679 towers have been installed in Madhya Pradesh, which will cover both rural and urban areas. According to Mithilesh Kumar, Chief General Manager, BSNL Madhya Pradesh Circle, 1,223 sites have already been installed under the Digital Bharat Nidhi Scheme, so that 1,656 villages without connections got mobile connectivity, and 247 and two will be installed by March 2026.
Fiber and 4G connections to villages
In Madhya Pradesh, there is also a large expansion under the Bharatnet Project. BSNL is laying 65,509 km of optical fiber to deliver high-speed internet in 22,858 gram panchayats, including the most remote villages.
BSNL has appealed to customers to upgrade customer service centers or official retailers for free 4G SIM. Many new towers are solar -wards, making this network suited to the environment.
Self -reliant India’s big step
So far 18,900 towers have been installed under the Digital Bharat Nidhi Scheme, out of which 14,180 have been installed by BSNL. These towers have given mobile connectivity to 26,700 not connected villages so far, which has benefited more than 20 lakh people. On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of BSNL, this indigenous 4G rollout is not just Digital India Mission, but is another big step towards self -reliant India.
